35% of the population is under 20 years old. This figure ranks Saint-Etienne at the top of the list of the youngest cities in France. A new university town, it is home to 20,660 students and provides highly-regarded training at its higher education establishments : Graduate School for Science and Technology (école des Mines), National Engineer School of Saint-Etienne, Fine Arts School, Architecture School, Arts and Drama School, etc
