The optics and Vision Centre

4 university centres are home to 10 universities, Grandes Ecoles and research centres accounting for 30 laboratories and 1,500 researchers and doctoral/post-doctoral students.

Created in 1996, the Optics and Vision centre – a unique meeting point for all players in the industry – saw the creation of a site devoted to the work of research, training and production in order to develop existing potential and new industrial activities.

7 research and technology exchange platforms, working for the benefit of the industry :

  • High-pressure aspherical surfaces
  • diffracting optical elements
  • graded-index optical components
  • 3D micro-vision
  • optical treatments using thin-layer sol-gel deposits
  • femtosecond laser and applications
  • industrial vision and active vision
Scientific presentation, assistance with the creation of industrial research projects,
mobilisation of involved industry players, co-ordination, follow-up of development programmes
    conduits to different technology platforms.

Higher Education

  • SUP’OPTIQUE : the Saint-Etienne branch of the Ecole Supérieure d’Optique
  • UNIVERSITE JEAN MONNET
  • ISTASE : Saint-Etienne Higher Institute for Advanced Techniques,
  • Professional degrees, masters and doctoral qualifications
