MINALOGIC

Micro Nanotechnologies and software competitiveness cluster is the Grenoble-Isère region’s answer to the French government’s call, under Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, for competitiveness cluster projects. The Grenoble-based project is based on a unique combination of microelectronics and software technologies. It brings together no fewer than 52 active partners from industry, higher research and education, and local and regional government partners .

The aims of the Minalogic competitiveness cluster are as follows :

  • on the one hand, to create Europe’s No.1 centre (and one of the world’s top three centres) for miniaturised smart chips, reinforcing and uniting resources drawn from industry, research and training in the leading sectors of both micro- and nanotechnologies and embedded on-chip software technologies. This ambition goes beyond the technological advances already achieved or covered by contracts with the State and local government partners (in particular in the nanoelectronics sector, with the Alliance Crolles2 project and micro- and nanotechnologies projects with MINATEC), since it covers new electronics materials and a new initiative, EmSoC (Embedded Systems on Chip), which aims to master embedded on-chip software technologies.

  • on the other hand, to promote these technological advances in industry sectors which could potentially obtain a competitive advantage from the use of miniature smart solutions.
